About Us

Vancouver Whales Hockey Club

Whales Four Tiers of Excellence

Integrity

An integral person is honest, trustworthy, and carries strong morals. Being accountable and trusted by your peers (teammates, coaches, parents) is essential for the success and comradery of a team. This especially applies to our coaching and management staff; we will model and reciprocate the same level of trust and respect.

Sportsmanship & Leadership

Comes from having the highest level of respect for oneself, and others, choosing a positive attitude, and cultivating a community of like-minded individuals. Learning to not only respect teammates but also opponents and game officials is a value that our program will demand from our players.

Self-Discipline

To effectively motivate yourself and others comes down to discipline. Discipline builds an athlete’s character to help them focus and attain the ability to work towards achieving their goals without any distractions. Teaching a player to always put in their best effort no matter the situation is something that will provide positive benefits in their hockey journey, schooling and professional careers.

Perseverance

To continue to challenge oneself to achieve the highest level of excellence, by setting goals, training with intention, creating seasonal progress plans with accountability along the way. Maintaining a positive mindset, and not losing sight of the love for the game of hockey.

Our Hockey Values

The Whale’s core values are to inspire the pursuit of excellence, through integrity, self-discipline, and passion on and off the ice.

We aim to create an environment where athletes can progress and showcase their individual talents while celebrating their work ethic in a team environment.

Our goal is to use hockey as a fundamental tool to shape the characters of young athletes to excel in all areas of their lives. In the end, we are looking to develop the individual first, then the hockey player.
